20 Years of Football Astana
NEW AGE WITH A NEW CHAMPION
At the turn of the century, the head of our state made a historic decision - to recognise the new capital - Akmola.
And already in June 1998 the city was recalled - Astana. By the way, the football team in that season already got the new name, having started in the VII Kazakhstan Championship.
The city federation of football was headed by Akim of Astana, the current head of the Kazakhstan Football Federation Adilbek Ryskeldinovich Dzhaksybekov. It is worth noting that since the first Kazakhstan Championships, he has always supported the development of the football life in our city.
Therefore, based on the best traditions of the previous football generations of Akmola and Tselinograd cities, it was decided to create a new strategic derection for the football team in the capital, which in future would be able to achieve success in the international arena.
The first step was the fottball club "Zhenis". The team coached by Sergei Gorohovodatsky managed to live up its name (in translation from Kazakh - "Victory"), won the Kazakhstan Championsip in 2000. The team had brilliant players, like Vladimir Nidergaus, Azamat Niyazymbetov, Oleg Voskoboynikov, and others. The following year the team repeated the success. And the forward Arsen Tlekhugov set a record of effectiveness in one championship - 30 goals scored.
"Zhenis" in the seasons of 2001-2002 won the Kazakhstan Cup and first debuts in European competition.
The capital team won Kazakhstan Khampionship in 2006 under the leadership of the Dutch expert Arno Pipers.
It was obvious that for capital football this is only the beginning of their long way.
FINAL OF THE CUP IN ASTANA
A great event in the life of the capital was holding of the Kazakhstan Cup for the first time. It was held on July 6, 2000. This was the first anniversary of Astana. At the H. Munaitpasov stadium, the FC ''Kairat'' and ''Access-Golden-Grain'' played in the decisive match for the new trophy. The President Nursultan Nazarbayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan and heads of three more states - Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, as well as the mayor of Moscow, who arrived for the first celebration of the new capital enjoyed he successful game of the Almaty team with five goals scored.
Since that time, 8 Kazakhstan Cup finals have been held in Astana. Six of them are on the new Stadium Astana Arena. Eight matches took place of the Kazakhstan Super Cup also took place in the capital.
It was at the final match on November 10, 2013, the match of the FC "Shakhtar" vs "Taraz" was attended by 24 500 spectators. The captain Andrei Finonchenko received the honorable trophy from the head of our country Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The modern stadium "Astana Arena", has a retractable roof and seating up to 30,000 .
In July 2009, with the participation of President of our country Nursultan Nazarbayev, the solemn opening of the stadium "Astana Arena" took place.
The world football stars Kaha Kaladze, Andrey Shevchenko, Hasan Shash and Hasan Shukur took part in the opening match of the stadium. The match between the teams "Lokomotiv" (Astana) - the youth team of Kazakhstan was refereed by the famous Italian referee Pierluji Collin. And the head of our state made the first honorable kick.
The top football club "Astana" have played against their rivals of the highest level in the matches of European Cups at this Stadium.
Last year, as a part of the EXPO-2017, the tournament "Legends of World Football" was held at the "Astana Arena". Specatators could see the game of such famous players of world football as Aldair, Roberto Baggio, Manfrend Kaltz, Jari Litmanen, Nunu Manish, Hristo Stoichkov and others.
KAZAKHSTAN FOOTBALL BRAND
FC "Astana" - a brand that is now known throughout Europe.
The team's game and results have completely changed after coming to the post of head coach Stanimir Stoilov in 2014. It seemed that the unrealizable dream - the group stage of the UEFA Champions League the next year became a reality. The spectators were able to watch live the famous European clubs such as the Spanish "Atletico", the Portuguese "Benfica", the Turkish "Galatasaray".
The success in the development of FC "Astana" in the Europa League was rapidly achieved. It seemed that not long ago everyone was happy with the only victory in the group stage over "Apoel", and in the 2017-2018 Europa League, the team confidently reached the playoffs, having passed the resistance of such rivals as the Czech "Slavia" and the Israeli "Maccabi". This is one of today's goals of the team. The team lost to the Portuguese "Sporting" in the playoffs. But now we know, that in future our teams will able to do their best and reach the top level.
The Bulgarian specialist could reveal the potential of the players of the national team of Kazakhstan, Abzal Beisebekov, Yuri Logvinenko, Sergei Maly, Dmitry Shomko, Serikzhan Muzhikov, Nenad Erich and others also have played for the nationa team. The names of the legionnaires George Despotovic, Patrick Tvumasi, Marina Anichic, Laszlo Kleinhaysler, Marina Tomasova, as well as recently played in the team of Junior Kabananga, are heard by the whole football of Kazakhstan and now are also known in Europe.

Today in Astana a sufficient number of football events and various competitions are held. Everyone may play football.
According to the Football Federation of Astana, which is directly responsible for the development of the game in the region, during the 2017 in the capital of Kazakhstan, 29 tournaments of various focuses were held with a coverage of 7,052 participants who participated in 889 games.
The motto: "Football begins with us!" - reflects the priority in the direction of the development of grassroots in Astana.
NATIONAL TEAM
October 14, 2009 in a match with Croatia, the national team of Kazakhstan held its first match at the "Astana Arena". And the following year, they won in a friendly match with the team of Oman - 3:1.
Currntly, the national team played 24 matches at "Astana-Arena". And the next game of the Nations League against Georgia will take lace on September 6
Of the 24 games held in Astana, the national team of Kazakhstan won 6 games, 7 games ended in a draw, and in 11 games our players lost. The goal difference is 27-36. FEDERATION
The main football body of the country is the Kazakhstan Football Federation, deployed in Astana.

Since 2015, the Federation is located in the right-bank part at the Saryarka Street.
