The Director of the KFF Refereeing Department, Nuno Alexandre Parreira de Castro has published explanations regarding individual match incidents from the fourth round of the Premier League.

Ordabasy vs Atyrau

Min 82 – Inside home team penalty area, away players 14 and 55 head the ball towards goal almost on the goal area line. In that episode away player 78 was in offside position in front of home defender 20 but they both were not so close from the ball's trajectory. Although player 78 was in offside position, he did not impact on the home defender 20 who, from his side, did not make any move to attempt to play the ball. And, in fact, the defender had no even theoretical chance to play the ball due to the distance towards the ball before and at the moment it entered the goal.

Referee and Assistant Referee 1 initially validate the goal.

Incorrect intervention from VAR after having checked the incident.

Incorrect final decision from referee cancelling the goal for offside offence after OFR.

Min 90+7 – Home attacker 15 and away defender 17 challenge for the ball, running towards it already inside away team penalty area. When the defender is close to the attacker, he realizes that he cannot play the ball and stops making all efforts to avoid contact. The attacker continues running and promotes very slight contact in the air with the defender. This episode cannot be deemed as an offence.

Incorrect no intervention from VAR after having checked the incident.

Incorrect final decision from referee to award penalty kick.

Min 90+13 – Challenging for the ball, home player 17 and away player 6 jump to head the ball. Home player 17 has his arm stretched to the side and hits his opponent’s face with it. The referee immediately stops the match, awards the direct free kick and shows a red card to home 17 for serious foul play. The arm was used as a “tool” with no extra movement nor with excessive force and for that reasons the correct disciplinary evaluation should have been a yellow card for reckless manner.

Incorrect no intervention from VAR after having checked the incident.

Incorrect final decision from referee to send off home player 17.

Elimay vs Tobol

Min 55 – Inside the away team penalty area, home attacker 11 makes a deliberate move of his arm towards the ball, thus gaining control of the ball while challenging away defender 15. Then he passes the ball to a teammate who scores. The referee was well positioned but it was impossible for him to see the details of the episode as both players were in front of him and blocking his view of the ball.

Correct intervention from VAR after having checked the incident.

Correct final decision from referee, after OFR to award a direct free kick in favour of defensive team for handball offence in APP.

Min 72 – Inside the away team penalty area, home attacker 20 is running with the ball under his control. Away defender 8 tries to play the ball but arrives late and steps on his opponent making him fall. Although being close, the referee was not well positioned as he had other players in front of him and misses the exact moment of stepping.

Correct intervention from VAR after having checked the situation.

Correct final decision from referee, after OFR to award a penalty kick and issue a yellow card to the offender for reckless foul.

Irtysh vs Altay

Min 90+1 – Running towards the ball with nobody between him and away goalkeeper, home player 13 was held off by away defender 15. The attacker had clear possibility to play the ball, and this was clearly a goal scoring opportunity as it was not far from goal, and no defenders could challenge him.

Correct no intervention from VAR after checking the incident.

Correct final decision from referee to send off away player 15 for DOGSO.
