Head of State visits Atlético de Madrid Kazakhstan Academy
The Head of State was shown the academy’s residential complex, which has a capacity of up to 180 people. Currently, 116 children from various regions of Kazakhstan live and train at the academy.
The selection process for the academy, which attracted more than 4,000 children from across Kazakhstan, was conducted by Spanish coaches. Young footballers have been provided with all the necessary conditions for education, training and individual development.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also presented with plans for the further development of the academy and the expansion of its sports infrastructure. The project includes the construction of two outdoor football pitches with artificial turf, a covered arena with a capacity of 500 seats and a new administrative and residential complex.
The President was informed that the academy’s location had been selected with climatic factors in mind to provide suitable conditions for endurance training. The clean mountain air and favourable climate of the Talgar district in the Almaty Region contribute to the rapid recovery of young athletes.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev then inspected the football pitch, whose surface meets FIFA standards. At the time, young footballers were practising ball control and teamwork using Spanish coaching methods.
Also attending the event were Spanish Ambassador to Kazakhstan Luis Francisco Martínez Montes, Atlético de Madrid board member David Villa and Atlético de Madrid Deputy Director for Academy Affairs and International Development María Teresa Chirivì.
