In the latest FIFA rankings, the Comoros national team is ranked 106th.
The team played its first official match on 26 August 1979 at the Indian Ocean Island Games. Comoros faced Mauritius, who won the match 3–0.
Comoros made their Africa Cup of Nations debut in 2022 in Cameroon. Comoros achieved their best-ever result there, reaching the Round of 16.
In the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the team finished fourth in Group I, recording five wins and five defeats, behind Mali, Madagascar and Ghana.
The country’s main stadium is the Stade Omnisports de Malouzini, located on the island of Ngazidja. The stadium was built in 2019 and is the largest stadium in the Comoros, with a capacity of 14,053 spectators.
Coin Nord is the most successful club in the Comoros, having won the domestic league seven times. The current champions are Zilimadjou.
El Fardou Ben Nabouhane is the all-time top scorer for the Comoros national team. The striker, who has played for Le Havre, Olympiacos, Red Star Belgrade and APOEL, has scored 19 goals for his country.
Youssouf Yacoub M’Changama holds the record for the most appearances for the Comoros national team, with 63 caps.
