The Director of the KFF Refereeing Department, Nuno Alexandre Parreira de Castro has published explanations regarding individual match incidents from the 15th round of the Premier League.

Jenis – Ulytau

Min 45 – Close to the touch line, home player nº 2 and away player 19 are challenging for the ball. When the home player falls down, the away player has enough space to put his foot on the ground but he steps his opponent with studs very close to the genital area clearly endangering the safety of his opponent. He did not try to avoid this contact even after he felt the stepping.

The referee was not close and missed the situation as well as the assistant referee nº 1.

VAR correctly intervened and recommended an OFR. Correct final decision from the referee to award a red card to away player 19.

Kyzylzhar – Ordabasy

Min 19 – On an attacking movement by the home team, away defender 14 and attacker 84 are challenging for the ball running towards the away goal and with only the goalkeeper in front. When they are almost in the penalty area, but just before, the defender stretches the leg to play the ball but he does not play it and trips his opponent, clearly denying an obvious scoring opportunity.

Referee was close to the situation and correctly awarded a direct free kick and red card to the defender.

VAR correctly did not intervene.

Elimai – Tobyl

Min 12 – On an attacking movement from the home team, home attacker nº 77 and away defender 5 challenge for the ball. When they are very close to the penalty area, they both stretch their legs to play the ball. Attacker kicks the ball far forward. According to the video images there is no visible contact by the defender on any part of the attacker.

Correct decision by referee to allow play to continue as no foul is seen. Even if there was any foul this would not be an obvious scoring opportunity as the attacker does not have the ball controlled and the goalkeeper would also have the real possibility to gain control of the ball.

VAR correctly did not intervene as there is no evidence of any foul.

Min 45 – Running to gain control of the ball towards the away goal, away player 55 and home player 7 challenge for the ball. Home attacker 7 stretches the leg to play the ball but steps on it losing balance and falling down.

Correct decision by referee to allow play to continue as there is no foul by defender 55.

VAR correctly did not intervene as there was no foul on APP by away player 55..

Aktobe – Atyrau

Min 87 – Close to the half-field line, home player 20 raises the left leg very high even with a small jump and hits his opponent nº 33 (who was standing just in front of him) with the studs on his chest, clearly endangering the safety of his opponent on a serious foul play challenge.

Referee incorrectly awards only a yellow card to home player 20.

VAR correctly intervened, recommending an OFR for red card to the referee. Incorrect final decision by referee maintaining his initial decision..
