An international football workshop for persons with cerebral palsy (CP-football), organized by the Kazakhstan Football Federation with the support of the International Federation of CP Football (IFCPF) took place from 2 to 4 July.

This event became the first in the world practice for the Pro coaching category in this area. Kazakhstan received the right to host the event due to its active participation in the development of inclusive sport and open co-operation with international partners.

The educational programme included both parts theory and practise. During three days, 13 Kazakhstani specialists learnt key methods of training athletes with CP under the guidance of international experts - Sam Turner (England), IFCPF Development Director, and Mohammed Zainudin (Singapore), the official tutor of the Federation.

At the end of the workshop all participants received certificates of completion. The next stage will be passing the qualification exam and according to the results the specialists will be able to receive the international coaching category Pro in CP-football.

Chingiz Temirkhanov - curator of the workshpop by the International Federation of CP Football:

"This is a very important project and a very important workshop for our country because it is a Pro category course. Now we have only 13 coaches from nine regions of Kazakhstan who are being trained.

At the moment we have five teams. I hope to launch four more teams this year. We also plan to gather the first women's team in Astana. This will be a big boost in the development of CP football.

Sam Turner - Head of Football Development at the International Federation of CP Football:

"I am glad to be here in Astana where we are running the first advanced coaching course for CP-football coaches. In 2017 we held an introductory course, and now we can see that this type of football is developing in Kazakhstan.

I note that many teams in different cities and many players are appearing. Now, Kazakhstan is developing its national championships and also working on the development of its national team. I am sure that all players have fantastic opportunities to play football just like everyone else".

The International Federation of CP Football (IFCPF) was formed in 2015 after 37 years of the sport operating under the auspices of the Cerebral Palsy Sport and Recreation Association and is now the official global regulatory body for CP football.
