Gianni Infantino: "FIFA Talent Academy in Kazakhstan Will Be in Safe Hands"
“It is my great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations on this landmark occasion – the awarding of FIFA Talent Development Academy status to the Academy of the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
The last time I had the honour of visiting your beautiful country was in May 2023, when I witnessed first-hand the impressive work being carried out to develop football.
It is clear to me that Kazakhstan is a true football nation, with leaders who recognise the opportunities our beautiful game brings to young people.
As you know, we launched the FIFA Talent Development Programme three years ago with a simple goal – to give every talented player the chance to fulfil their potential, regardless of where they live or their financial and social background.
This important project, initiated by FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, Arsène Wenger, aims to make football truly global – raising standards across the world and providing more boys and girls with the opportunity to play professionally.
In this context, the FIFA Talent Development Academy represents a vital investment in the dreams of young players. It will help identify, nurture and develop local talent, opening pathways for boys and girls to grow both regionally and globally.
We want to contribute to social and personal growth, shaping well-rounded individuals by instilling values such as discipline, teamwork and leadership through football – ensuring players not only succeed on the pitch but also grow into responsible and valuable members of society.
In Kazakhstan, this Academy will be in the very safe hands of Vitalijs Astafjevs, a talented coach who represented Latvia in their historic debut at UEFA EURO 2004.
I am confident that with his experience, and with this investment, Kazakhstan can set ambitious goals for the future – and we look forward to welcoming you to more FIFA events in the years ahead,” – said Gianni Infantino.
