Over 100 Children Join UEFA Grassroots Week in Astana
In Kazakhstan, the event kicked off on 24 September and continued in Astana. Schoolchildren from local educational institutions took part, experiencing football training sessions in the role of professional players.
According to Nikita Mozgovoy, Director of the KFF Grassroots Football Department, the project was introduced in the capital in a pilot format.
“UEFA Grassroots Week was organised with the support of UEFA and FK Sports. This year we decided to launch a pilot project here in Astana. Children aged 6 to 8, as well as school pupils, took part in the activities. With the backing of the regional football federation, we hosted a festival. The children were very enthusiastic. Definetely, on Sunday morning they arrived a little sleepy, but soon were full of energy. They completed exercises, warm-ups, and then played football with one another,” noted Nikita Mozgovoy.
UEFA Grassroots Week is a UEFA initiative designed to give every child the opportunity to play football, regardless of age, ability, nationality, ethnic background, religion, gender or any other personal characteristics.
