KFF representatives took part in UEFA VAR symposium

The event was attended by representatives of 46 national associations, including coaches, referees, players, technical specialists, as well as experts from related sports.
The symposium was aimed at developing a unified approach to the use of VAR at the European level and strengthen mutual understanding between all parties of the football process.
The Kazakhstan Football Federation was represented at the forum by the Director of the Refereeing and Inspection Department Nuno Alexandre Parreira de Castro, Director of the VAR Development Department Nikita Utrobin, as well as a representative of the Public Relations Department Zhandos Khalel.
The following key topics were discussed during the symposium:
- current state and prospects of VAR system development
- statistics of decision efficiency: without VAR referees make correct decisions in 97.49% of cases, with VAR - in 99.60%
- difficulties in interpreting the rules and the need to unify approaches
- experience of video technology implementation in other sports (volleyball, basketball, cricket)
- best practices and cases from European football.
The Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez, French referee Stephanie Frappard and IFAB technical director David Elleray attended the symposium.
UEFA's Managing Director of Refereeing Roberto Rosetti said the symposium was an important step towards a common approach to the use of VAR. He stressed the need for further improvements in the technology as well as increased open dialogue with the public.
