Gennady Skurtul: ''The UEFA Share workshop will give a huge boost to the development of fitness coaches''

Technical Director of the Kazakhstan Football Federation Gennady Skurtul shared his impressions of the UEFA Share workshop.

"The workshop was a success. This is the first time Kazakhstan has hosted such an event for fitness coaches. Earlier, as part of the UEFA Share programme, Grassroots Workshop was held in Almaty.

The workshop is dedicated to future fitness coaches instructors. This is a new direction adopted by the UEFA convention and it will come into force in July 2025. In order for countries to launch their courses, we need to train the instructors, which is what we have been doing for the last three days. This workshop aims to ensure that each country can run such events independently in the future.

All the participants of the workshop are deeply immersed in the subject matter. Experts from UEFA on fitness have arrived, so I think the workshop will give a huge boost to the development of fitness coaches. This course is the beginning of a new path.

One of the speakers is Pierre Barrier, who will supervise Kazakhstan in the future. The direction of fitness needs improvement. We have fitness coaches, but unfortunately we have not had any regular courses or workshops in recent years. We are now at the stage of selecting several Kazakhstani instructors who will promote this project in the country in the future and train fitness coaches not only for professional clubs, but also for academies and football centres.

The recent visit of the UEFA President and this workshop are proof that the Kazakhstan Football Federation is fully supported by UEFA and FIFA. I am confident that we will justify the trust placed in us," said Skurtul.
