Match Incidents Clarifications – Premier League Round 16 (According to the Laws of the Game)

Turan vs Kyzylzhar
Min 85 – On an attacking movement by the away team, on the right side, the ball is crossed inside the penalty area. Away defender 15 even before the ball arrives starts to hold the arm of the attacker nº 6. When the ball is arriving there is no holding anymore and the attacking player lounges himself to the ball letting himself fall down and even playing the ball with his left hand. Referee is close and awards a Penalty Kick. This is a light hold and although some elements/criteria can be applied for penalty kick the intensity is not high enough and guidelines are not to punish small contacts with no strong impact. Best decision would be to allow play to continue.
VAR wrongly did not intervene, as per the above criteria.
Tobyl vs Okzetpes
Min 38 - On a very fast attack away team player 27 was running with the ball towards the opponent penalty area. Already very close to the penalty area line, the attacker plays the ball not in goal direction when home defender 15 makes a sliding tackle for the ball and dont touch his opponent.
The referee was close and aware and he correctly allowed play to continue.
Good decision from VAR not to intervene as there is no foul and consequently there is no denial of goal scoring opportunity.
Min 40 - When attacking away player 10 was already inside the penalty area, home defender 5 went from the back and clearly pushed with body and arms his opponent making him fall.
Referee was well positioned and immediately correctly awarded a penalty kick.
Correct decision by VAR not to intervene.
Ordabasy vs Astana
Min 67 - Challenging for the ball, away player 17 made a reckless foul hitting his opponent nº 45 on the neck/back of the head with his arm with some intensity, not even playing the ball but only touching with his back.
The referee was very close and with clear view correctly and immediately showed the yellow card to the player and followed by the red card as this player had already been shown a yellow card before.
Correct decision by VAR not to intervene.
Zhenis vs Zhetysu
Min 53 - With the ball between the two players, home player 87 raises the leg high with a small jump, and hits his opponent nº 4 on the head with studs and straight leg, which was just in front of him trying to challenge for the ball.
The referee was very close and in a good position and immediately showed the red card to the player for serious foul play (endangering the safety of the opponent).
VAR correctly did not intervene.
