13 February 2026, 13:33
It has already started the Pre-season Seminar for Top League Match Officials last week.

The Top League referees, VAR and Assistant Referees gathered in Turkey to prepare next season. Referees are top athletes and as players they need also to prepare for the high demands of top league matches.

The first day of the Seminar has started with low intensity physical training in the morning, followed by the Laws of the Game session about the new changes that will be implemented this season on every leagues.

After that the VAR training sessions started, with referees being in contact with the new VAR system that will be implemented in top league (Hawk-Eye), inside a dedicated VAN which is used in the European matches in UEFA. The purpose of this session is to give experience to the referee in the system before the season starts.

This new system will bring new features, as in UEFA matches, like lines for offside, giving our referees new tool for improved work.

Next day the referees were submitted to all the tests (Fitness, Laws of the Game and Video), which they need to pass on a high level to be able to officiate matches. The results were very good, which demonstrated that they are already in a good level of preparation.

Starting from the third day, the program will be similar all days until the end of the seminar, with the day beginning with fitness training using the most advanced training methods applied in UEFA, as our invited Guest is Mr. João Dias one of the main UEFA Fitness Instructor.

These training sessions are followed by a theoretical session where all the main technical topics are discussed with clips, raising uniformity and clarifying criteria.

In the afternoons the referees are split in groups, with some of them going for matches to optimal practical preparation where also a refereeing coach observes the match and gives debrief to the referees immediately after the match. Other group will be doing the screening UEFA 20 dedicated to Injury Prevention, and the last group will have individual interviews about English evaluation.

This intense schedule aims for excellence in the preparation of Top League referees, as the next league will be more demanding as football in Kazakhstan is also growing.
