The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has officially announced that the 51st UEFA Congress will be held on 4 March 2027 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

The decision was confirmed at the milestone 50th UEFA Congress, which took place in Brussels. The Congress in the Belgian capital was attended by the General Secretary of the Kazakhstan Football Federation, David Loriya.

The UEFA Congress is the supreme governing body of European football and brings together representatives of all 55 member associations on an annual basis. During the Congress, key decisions shaping the strategic direction of European football are taken, including the approval of financial and organisational matters, decisions relating to the staging of international competitions, and the election of UEFA’s leadership bodies.

The 51st UEFA Congress will be an electoral Congress. Elections for the UEFA President and members of the UEFA Executive Committee will take place during the session. As such, important decisions shaping the future direction of European football in the coming years will be taken in Kazakhstan.

The right to host a UEFA Congress is granted to member associations as a mark of trust and recognition of their contribution to the development of football. Hosting the 51st Congress will represent one of the largest international football events ever staged in Kazakhstan and will further strengthen the country’s position within the European football community, while also enhancing international cooperation in sport.

The staging of the UEFA Congress in Kazakhstan will be a significant milestone for domestic football and a clear demonstration of the high level of confidence placed in the country by the European football family.

The organisation and delivery of the Congress will be financed by UEFA. No state budget funds will be used, with the event representing a direct contribution by European football’s governing body to the development of international cooperation.
