Kseniya Postovaya: “We Will Strengthen the Squad and Bring in New Talented Players”
“If we assess the team’s performance in terms of results, of course, the situation is not the best. We did not perform well in this round. However, if we look at the objectives set, they can be considered achieved. The squad has been renewed by 90%, and the coaching staff has also changed. On the pitch, we assessed the players’ capabilities and began building combinations. We managed to understand the team’s playing model and identify what we are lacking.
Following this analysis, we will begin preparations for the autumn stage. Why were the results not strong? This is partly related to selection. Before the start of the tournament, we lost three key players for various reasons. As a result, we went into the competition without two main forwards. This directly affected our attacking output, which explains the outcome.
Defensively, we performed quite well, but to score goals we lacked options and quality in attack. We definitely need to strengthen the squad and improve our recruitment process. We are looking for fast and high-quality wingers, as well as a striker capable of competing for the ball and being effective in attack. In addition, we will work on addressing weaknesses in our playing model.
A significant amount of recruitment work lies ahead. We also need to improve internal communication within the coaching staff, as some aspects require reconsideration,” Kseniya Postovaya said.
The head coach also assessed the level of the opponents in the group.
“The opponents performed as expected. Israel finished top of the group, while Bulgaria, that dropped from League A, came second. Our match against Malta was a tight one. We had the advantage in that game, but ultimately the result is what matters. You can play well, but the outcome may still be negative.
Overall, the opponents showed a good level and provided us with valuable experience. All three matches were different, and in each of them we worked on specific elements of our playing model.
We will now conduct a detailed analysis of all matches and identify our weaknesses. We will carry out extensive scouting work and continue searching for talented players. The team already has a solid foundation in midfield, but the attacking line remains a weak point.
Therefore, our main task is to strengthen the squad, bring in new players and continue developing our coaching expertise,” the coach added.
