Astana Hosts Referee Workshop on VAR System

Once the season concluded in October, Premier League referees were invited to participate in educational sessions on the VAR system, held in Astana.

To ensure the consistent implementation of the strategic refereeing development plan, the Refereeing and Inspection Department organized working sessions for Premier League referees and video assistants, running from 19 to 26 November.

During this period, the main focus is on training referees in the use of VAR. In addition, the Department has prepared supplementary sessions on soft skills, which are essential for elite-level referees, including match management, body language, and effective communication.

A key feature of the programme is the new training format. Rather than the traditional seminar with a single instructor and a large group, sessions are now conducted in pairs.

This approach allows training to be delivered in a coaching-style format, providing personalized guidance and targeted advice to each referee, tailored to their individual characteristics and optimizing their working style.
